FACIAL BASICS

Facials are just one of the steps to maintaining healthy, clear skin but can also a procedure that involves a number of skin treatments. These skin treatments vary in each type of facial but generally they include steam, facial masks, creams and massage. Facials are mostly performed in beauty salons for the purpose of maintaining the health of the skin. Facials consist of the cleansing and exfoliating of the skin and the extraction of blackheads or whiteheads that clog pores.

Doing a facial at home involves the following simple steps:

Cleansing:

Cleansing the skin is the first step in doing a facial. The process involves washing the face, ears and neck with the help of a cleanser so that the dirt or grime is removed from the skin. It is also necessary to remove the face and eye makeup with the help of makeup remover.

Exfoliating:

This is done with the help of a facial scrub. Rub a gentle exfoliating facial scrub in a circular motion on your face with fingers. Concentrate on the areas around your nose and forehead. Extra rubbing should be carried out on the greasy areas of your face. Rinse the face thoroughly because the exfoliating scrub dries the skin.

Steaming:

Steaming can be carried out in many ways. The purpose of steaming is to clean the pores of the skin on the face that accumulate toxins and dirt. The heated steam dissolves the hardened dirt particles and drains them away. Fill your sink with warm water, dip a washcloth in and press to your face repeating 2-3 times or you can take it further by boiling water in a teapot.

Applying a Facial Mask:

For oily skin, use a clay-based face mask. For dry skin, go for a hydrating gel or cream mask.

Apply the mask, avoiding the areas around the eyes. Keep it on for 10-20 minutes (or, according to the directions on the product). Rinse completely. You can even make your own face mask.

Moisturizing:

Apply a moisturizer over the face, neck and other exposed areas.
